Palamós Town Hall will regulate access by motorized vehicle to the coastal area of Cala S’Alguer and La Pineda d’en Gori. The measure, which was already applied at Easter coinciding with the intensification of the space, and is being activated again now, at the gates of summer, to avoid the risk of forest fires.
The objective, explains the Consistory in a press release, is to “guarantee the safety of people” and facilitate access for emergency teams in cases of fire or other risk situations.
The measure that will begin to be applied this midnight will last throughout the summer, coinciding with the high intensity of use of this space, the increase in temperatures and the risk of forest fires.
The restriction affects all owners of motorized vehicles who do not reside or have any property in that sector and is limited to the urbanized street that gives access to the area of Cala S’Alguer and La Pineda d’en Gori from the Camà de Cap de plans. The accesses on foot by the coastal path or the existing dirt roads will continue to be open.
The owners of the emblematic shacks of S’Alguer or the residents of this area of the coast, the City Council will provide a single accreditation per property to access the urbanized street. Cars must park on this street and can only access the Pineda d’en Gori for loading and unloading.
The Consistory already adopted this measure last April for the area of Castell. With this access regulation, he wants to “ensure the conservation of the values of these natural spaces” and prioritize access on foot or by bicycle.
