The gastronomic guide Opinionated About Dining (OAD), created in 2003 by the American foodie Steven Plotnicki and based on the reviews of thousands of collaborators, has just made public its ranking of the 30 best new restaurants in Europe, led by the Italian Atelier Moessmer followed by the Swedish Vyn.
This year 10 Spanish establishments have entered it, two more than last year: these are Txispa (Atxondo, Bizkaia), Vandelvira (Baeza, Jaén), Osa (Madrid), Bascoat (Madrid), Mesón Sabor Andaluz (Cádiz ), Sensato (Barcelona), Aleia (Barcelona), Hika (Villabona, Gipuzkoa), Arrels (Sagunto, Valencia) and Nublo (Haro, La Rioja).
In the case of Txispa, the steakhouse of the Japanese Tetsuro Maeda, who was a disciple of Bittor Arginzoniz at Asador Etxebarri, has managed to place itself directly on the podium, specifically in third place. Also among the 5 best is Vandelvira (number 4), Juan Carlos García’s establishment located in a 16th century Renaissance convent in the heart of Baeza.
Furthermore, Spain continues to lead the top 10 of this ranking, since the Madrid-based Osa, by Sara Peral and Jorge Muñoz, and Bascoat, by Nagore Irazuegi and Rodrigo García, have earned number 6 and 9 respectively; and Meson Sabor Andaluz on the 10th.
The Barcelona-based Sensato and Aleia have managed to place themselves at number 13 and 16. Let us remember that this list not only includes the new openings of the year, but also the establishments that with a short history are achieving projection.
This new list of the best restaurants in Europe, which has just been presented, serves as a prelude to the gala that OAD will hold on June 17 in Madrid to reveal its annual ranking of the best restaurants in Europe, which will include 150 addresses.
This will be completed with a selection of more than 300 Highly Recommended and Recommended restaurants by OAD, which includes other lists, among which are Best Restaurants in North America, South America, Japan and Asia, Casual Restaurants in North America, Europe and Japan, Classic Europe and Affordable Restaurants in North America and Europe.
