Nikola Jokic Still Undecided About Playing In Olympics
Nikola Jokic, the star center for the Denver Nuggets, is still on the fence about representing Serbia at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Following the Nuggets’ elimination in the NBA playoffs, Jokic stated that he needed time to consider his participation in the prestigious event.
Serbia’s head coach, Svetislav Pesic, dismissed recent reports claiming that Jokic had already made a commitment to play in the Olympics as “fake news”. Pesic emphasized that Jokic will inform the national team of his decision at the appropriate moment.
Having last suited up for Serbia at the 2022 EuroBasket, Jokic opted out of competing in the 2023 FIBA World Cup to recover from the demanding NBA season, which culminated in the Nuggets clinching the championship title.
Serbia has been placed in Group C for the Olympic basketball tournament, alongside formidable opponents such as the United States, South Sudan, and the victor of the Puerto Rico Olympic Qualifying Tournament. As Jokic deliberates on his Olympic involvement, fans eagerly await his final verdict, which could significantly impact Serbia’s prospects in the upcoming games.
