For years it was one of three; now it’s three in one. Joan Gràcia (Barcelona, ??1957) is used to premieres; for years he lived them together with Carles Sans and Paco Mir with Tricicle, and today he is not long before the presentation in society of the new mess he has gotten himself into. Tomorrow Lío Mallorca opens its doors in a historic venue like the mythical Tito’s nightclub in Palma and in the wake of the successful club of the same name that has been operating in Eivissa for years.
Gràcia has been living in Palma for a month to prepare the variety show Simply the best, “Yes, like the Tina Turner song, but in this case to also highlight that the different numbers that are represented are the best of the best in the history of Lío and some more, special, for this premiere”, explains Joan, about to open the new premises of the Pachá group to the public. The old and unique Tito’s nightclub building, on the Paseo Marítim in Palma, is now, after a complete remodeling that has lasted more than a year, Lío Mallorca, an offer of variety shows, restaurant, nightclub and nightclub, to image and likeness of the local Eivissa.
But Joan Gràcia, before getting into the troubles of the different Líos, did it, too, riding the Tricicle, together with his companions, friends and almost lovers, Carles Sans and Paco Mir, together with whom he starred in the group’s farewell on last December in a last performance at the Liceu. The three of them were just over 20 years old when they met in a theater workshop, they liked each other, got along and, little by little, they won over the public and the stages thanks to their mute language graces.
For the trio to work, when they had already passed a few years of fruitful and successful union, Carles, Joan and Paco made the decision to take three months of vacation a year, which also coincided with the summer. The last August that they worked they did 29 shows in 31 days representing Slastic, a marathon that they never repeated. The separations during these months were also balsamic: as in marriages, nothing like a good reunion after missing each other.
Summer was sacred to Joan Gràcia and he was in full summer break thirteen years ago when Ricard Urgell, at the time the owner of Pachá, consulted him about opening a new premises with an offer never seen before in Eivissa or anywhere else. place. Gràcia went from being a friend and adviser to the person in charge of the project as well as its subsequent start-up and is still there.
The first artists in Lío were caught by Spamalot, the musical that Tricicle adapted from the original by Monty Python, and little by little he has formed successive companies with dancers, singers, contortionists and other variety specialists, first in Eivissa, later in Mykonos (Greece) and London (United Kingdom) and from this Thursday, in Mallorca, they are part of a two-hour show in which thirty numbers follow one another at a dizzying pace, performed while the public tastes the dinner.
For the new venue in Palma, the chef with a Michelin star Andreu Genestra has been chosen, who has prepared a menu as deluxe as the show and the venue. Everyone’s intention is for Palma to recover its shine and glamour; Living the Lío experience is not cheap, but the waiting list to enjoy Lío de Eivissa shows that it does not disappoint. After the variety show and dinner, the venue is transformed into a nightclub with the same or new audience.
Joan Gràcia seems to enjoy this new hustle and bustle with his appearance as a calm man and admits that in his life there have been no more troubles than his work in Lío. He lived and closed the Tricicle stage without bad vibes and with just the right level of fame to enjoy it; For 30 years, he has been happily married to Ana Fernández and boasts of his two daughters: Carlota (28), who is a jewelry and clothing designer with her firm MaisxFrida, and the youngest, Julieta (25), a surprise model from the that he keeps on his mobile, along with the designs of the eldest, the covers of the most important fashion magazines in which the girl appears. What more could you want.
