New Orleans authorities state no charges will be submitted at the time against a guy who shot and killed a suspected house invader on Thursday night at the French Quarter, FOX8 reports.

The supposed home invader was slamming on the door and lunged in the homeowner when it started it, according to the local news outlet.

Neighbors told the Times Picquayne along with also the New Orleans Advocate that prior to the shooting, they found a guy who seemed to be drunk pulling door handles from the area in addition to knocking on doors.

“A great deal of violence occurs at 4 or 3 a.m.,” a French Quarter resident, Dereck Terry, told the local paper. “However, I might have easily been riding my bicycle during this”

No fees will be filed at Thursday night’s shooting, FOX8 accounts .

Louisiana’s stand your ground philosophy states ,”A man who isn’t engaged in unlawful activity and who’s at a location where he or she has the right to become will have no duty to retreat before using deadly force… and can stand their ground and meet force with force”
