Spectacular representation of the living nativity scene in Corbera de Llobregat. An angel appears from a crane on the mountain, the actor’s bravery is impressive. Beautiful to visit with the family, some images can be seen in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.
More than 200 actors put themselves in the shoes of the characters in each scene of this living nativity scene, which is the oldest in Catalonia. This nativity scene is staged fifty times every year in this town in Baix Llobregat.
The visitor walks through a circuit where live and moving performances are performed, and where the characters are dressed according to Hebrew and Catalan customs. Music, Christmas carols, stories and lighting accompany the performance.
The first representation of the living nativity scene of Corbera de Llobregat was made in 1962, already in the same natural setting of Penya del Corb where it still takes place today, as can be seen in this photographic report.
Currently, actors from three generations participate in its staging and along the route, which is 700 meters long, you can see scenes such as the angel’s annunciation to the Virgin, the shepherds, the washerwomen, the birth in the cave, the angel’s announcement to the shepherds, adoration, the Kings, the flight to Egypt or family life in Nazareth.
