The animal rights foundation FAADA will report the owner of the Ripollès equestrian center that is being investigated by the Mossos for a possible case of animal abuse.

In a statement, they regret that the Generalitat did not confiscate all the horses that were there at the time of the inspection because they believe that their lives “are in danger.”

On December 29, the Mossos carried out an inspection and located three dead horses, two from firearms. There were also nineteen live animals, of which three were in poor condition and were seized and transferred to a recovery center. The foundation explains that they were the ones who alerted the Rural Agents after some hikers informed them of the poor condition of the animals and collected evidence.

In a statement, the animal rights organization celebrates the performance of the Territorial Services of the Department of Climate Action, Agenda and Rural Environment for their “quick action” and especially the Rural Agents. FAADA assures that it will continue pressing to obtain the full confiscation of the horses.

During the December 29 inspection, officers located three dead horses (two shot). The corpses were distributed in different spaces of the property in a state of decomposition.

The Mossos identified the person responsible for the equestrian center as being investigated for an alleged case of animal abuse and also seized the firearm with which he allegedly killed the animals.

The first police investigations revealed that the equestrian company had not carried out the correct procedures with the horses and that the corpses of the sacrificed animals were distributed around the farm in a state of decomposition.

The sacrifice of animals for health reasons is an act typical of the professional practice of veterinary doctors in exceptional cases and, according to the police, the regulations do not allow any exception other than veterinary ones.

The investigation remains open and arrests have not been ruled out to clarify the responsibilities that may arise from any collaborator in the acts investigated.
