A recent operation aimed at stopping intersection takeovers in Miami-Dade County resulted in two arrests and a car crash. The Miami Dade Police Department’s Homeland Security Bureau (HSB) collaborated with the City of Miami Police Department on Saturday to carry out the operation. This effort led to the issuance of 13 citations, the impoundment of three vehicles, and the arrest of two individuals.

The arrested individuals, Jake Ross, 22, and Jose Espinosa, 19, are facing multiple charges, including drag racing. Ross is also charged with fleeing and eluding the police and resisting an officer without violence. Additionally, Espinosa is facing a reckless driving charge.

According to the police, Ross was identified as the driver of a white Chevrolet Camaro that was involved in illegal activities, such as performing donuts, during one of the takeovers. The vehicle had a covered license plate. When officers attempted to pull him over, Ross fled and eventually crashed into a fence after losing control of the car. Fortunately, he did not sustain any injuries and was taken into custody.

If you have any information regarding these activities, you are urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can remain anonymous when providing information. Taking part in illegal activities on the road not only endangers your life but also the lives of others. It is crucial to obey traffic laws and drive responsibly to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. Let this operation serve as a reminder that law enforcement is actively working to prevent dangerous driving behaviors and uphold public safety.
