Martín Berasategui, the chef with the most Michelin stars, has undergone successful surgery after suffering a spectacular fall and fracturing his humerus “on all sides”, as reported by the clinic where he was operated on through his X account (formerly Twitter) .
“On Sunday I was walking from Lasarte to San Sebastián and I had an accident. I tripped and hit my nose and ended up with my humerus completely broken on all sides,” explains the prestigious chef in a video, in which he is seen with considerable wounds on the forehead and nose.
The injury to the humerus forced him to undergo surgery, in which he was operated on by doctors Cuéllar, an operation that these specialists describe as successful. Now, “they wish him a speedy recovery,” although they do not give details of the deadlines they are dealing with.
In the same video, Berasategui sends a message of gratitude to the doctors who treated him: “The Cuellar family has performed a miracle, because they operated on me and I still can’t even believe it.”
As the renowned chef explains, it is not the first time that he has gone to these specialists throughout his life. “I am not afraid, lazy or ashamed to say how lucky I have been since the day I met them,” he concludes.
The hospital staff also wanted to have a nice farewell with the Lasarte cook. “He has allowed us to share this beautiful image with the team before being discharged and he has confessed to us that the food at Policlínica Gipuzkoa is delicious,” he says.
