The Spanish rider Marc Márquez, from the Repsol Honda team, will not participate in the Grand Prix of the Americas to be held in the US city of Austin on April 16, as he continues in the process of recovering from the fracture he suffered in the first metacarpal on his right hand and the one he underwent surgery at the end of March.

After carrying out a final CT scan, the decision was made by Márquez himself and his medical team, led by Ignacio Roger de Oña, from the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid. The goal is to avoid unnecessary risks and seek full recovery, according to his team.

Márquez suffered this injury when he fell in the second round of the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix, the opening round of the season, and was not in the second held in Argentina.
