From the privileged view of Vallvidrera, I have captured for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos a unique image that encapsulates the majesty of the Tramuntana mountain range in Mallorca. Over the years, I have viewed numerous photographs from this point, but today’s one stands out for several extraordinary elements.
Firstly, the exceptional sharpness of the profile of the Tramuntana mountain range creates an impressive visual work. The undulating geometry is revealed with astonishing clarity, even surpassing images captured with GPS on other occasions.
Secondly, the snapshot acquires a unique character by having the presence of two forms of transportation that are intertwined with the island and the airspace. A plane, about to land at the Prat airport, hovers over the island, while a ship in the middle of unloading containers adds dynamism to the port of Barcelona.
The photograph, taken with a 500 mm lens, plays with light and shadow, creating an enigmatic atmosphere that invites contemplation. Warm and cool zones intertwine, enhancing contrast and providing a captivating visual palette.
Despite the distance that separates Vallvidrera from Mallorca, every detail has been immortalized, and other details have been addressed in previous photographs.
