Luis García is now officially the new coach of Espanyol until 2024. The commitment to the Asturian, ex-footballer parakeet, is not only for the 11 games that remain in the championship, regardless of what happens, but he is given one more year on his contract either in First or Second Division to be able to develop his model

Luis García, a former Espanyol player between 2005 and 2011, will be presented this Monday as the blue and white coach after leading his first training session with his new pupils at the Dani Jarque Sports City starting at 10.30 am. The Asturian will later travel to the RCDE Stadium to pronounce his first words as a parakeet coach

As a footballer, Luis García defended the blue and white shirt from the 2004-2005 season until the start of the 2011-2012 campaign. In total, 262 games (League, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup and UEL) and 60 goals. The new coach was proclaimed champion of the Copa del Rey in 2006 in the memorable final against R. Zaragoza (4-1) at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium and a year later he cried with all the parrots after losing the Europa League final . In addition, Luis García reached full international status with the Spanish team.

This will be his third experience as a coach. Luis Garcia made his debut on the bench in 2019 with the Damm youth team and this season he has coached RSC Internacional, Real Madrid’s third team.
