Lola Casademunt by Maite puts color and art on the 080 Barcelona Fashion catwalk

Art and fashion is a very present pairing at the 33rd edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion, which is being held until Friday at the modernist Sant Pau venue. 080Aesthetics is a new space where you can see the work of different artists who have worked for fashion brands or for music stars who are style icons. But art has also taken to the catwalk with Lola Casademunt by Maite.

Cardedeu’s firm presented its collection for next fall-winter that it called Trendy Pop. Vibrant colors and striking prints such as the animal print – DNA of the firm – are the absolute protagonists of the new designs.

The imagination of Maite, daughter of the founder of the women’s accessories brand, is dyed red to complete a very vivid color palette such as Klein blue, red, green and yellow. All of them giving life and combined with black bases, and in materials such as pleats, quilts, jacquards, taffeta, etc., to form a vital proposal.

The first day of 080 was closed by Igualada’s Sita Murt. It has been 10 years since the designer who gave her name to the firm that made knitting more than just a textile technique passed away, inherited from a family business that was dedicated to knitting and is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

That’s why to celebrate this anniversary, 080 has invited Sita Murt, who had been away from the catwalks for several years, to parade again. 100 years weaving the future is the name of the collection that pays tribute to this centuries-old tradition that goes far beyond fashion.

It is a collection with personality, where ecru and black coexist with feminine neutrals and nuances, such as eucalyptus green, butter or honey color. A color palette that defines the essence of  Sita Murt. Like other collections of the day such as those of Escorpion or Simorra, he has taken center stage on the catwalk. The mix of yarns and textures gives rise to high-quality pieces, thanks to the application of the best mohair and baby alpaca wools, which contrast with viscose, rayon and aluminum yarns, and with almost transparent polyamides. This visual richness is materialized in the combination of materials, achieving very elaborate and special pieces, woven in intarsia and playing with transparencies or techniques to achieve an iridescent stitch.
