The Fire Department of the Generalitat and the Mossos d’Esquadra located this Wednesday afternoon the lifeless body of a resident of Esplugues whose disappearance his wife reported on Tuesday night. The body was found inside the victim’s vehicle, an SUV, in the Gaià stream. The search device continued with natural light due to the possibility that the victim was accompanied by another person, about whom, so far last night, there was no missing person report. Investigators are working on the hypothesis that strong storms on Tuesday afternoon in Terrassa caught the man off guard, whose vehicle was swept away for more than a kilometer and a half.
The find was made in Ullastrell, in the Vallès Occidental region, in Barcelona, ??a few kilometers from the town of Terrassa, which suffered a storm on Tuesday that flooded the ground floor and caused numerous damages.
Three crews from the Generalitat Fire Brigade have moved to the place, in the Can Font area, who have reported the discovery on Twitter, as well as the Mossos d’Esquadra, the local police of Terrassa and the duty judge who has authorized the removal of the body.
In Terrassa, a town located a few kilometers from the area where the body was found, a downpour of water fell yesterday and flooded some of the city’s streets in just over an hour.
Specifically, 92 liters of water per square meter fell and in some points even more, and by mid-afternoon Civil Protection had received almost 400 calls, the majority due to floods, 234 were made from the Vallès Occidental and 174 from Terrassa.
