I have prepared this photographic report for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos by applying filters to the images of Pilar d’Almenara, as if it were Instagram.
This tower belongs to an old castle documented in 1139, which dominated the southern end of the plateau, with a great panoramic view of Urgell and all the castles in its surroundings.
The place name Almenara is of Arabic origin and means, precisely, watchtower. It is a work declared Cultural Asset of National Interest.
The images show us the filtered landscape of the Almenara mountain range, in the Urgell region. It is at the top of this mountain where we can find this medieval Christian tower that has survived to this day.
Birds are the protagonists in this place around the Pilar d’Almenara. Diverse birds, of various sizes and colors, among which storks stand out.
