In its sixty-year history, Lamborghini has always been characterized by going one step further, both in design and performance. His vehicles have always been extreme, daring, risky and groundbreaking, technically and conceptually. It is enough to review some of its most remembered creations to observe that the firm at all has always broken the barriers of the conventional, has explored new frontiers and has taken elements such as aerodynamics or performance further than anyone else. Miura, Countach, Diablo, Murciélago, Aventador… are just a few examples of the brand’s most emblematic V12, models that marked a technological milestone when they were launched and have gone down in history.

Now, Lamborghini once again shakes and shakes the high-performance supercar segment with the unique Huracán Sterrato, a conceptual “folly” turned into reality that allows you to move from asphalt to dirt and from the circuit to the tracks and mountain roads with total naturalness and freedom.

It is the first supercar prepared for adventure and capable of going far beyond the asphalt. And best of all, it is not a simple aesthetic kit or an “aftermarket” preparation, but a factory-specific development that proves to be extraordinarily effective and competent when leaving the road.

During the exclusive presentation to the specialized press -which was attended by La Vanguardia Moveo, along with two other only national media- the brand’s managers prepared an intense day of tests in different scenarios and environments to demonstrate the incredible dynamic and mechanics of this unique vehicle, only comparable to the recent Porsche 911 Dakar.

The route taken behind the wheel of the Sterrato included long highway journeys, country roads in very poor condition, dirt tracks in the middle of the forest, circuit sessions -on dry and wet- and even a brief section inside a quarry, with soils completely broken, stony and covered in a fine dust.

On all of them, it demonstrated some surprisingly effective faculties and difficult to anticipate a priori thanks to the modifications made by the team of engineers responsible for the development of the Sterrato on a “standard” Huracán.

Among the changes and adaptations that this “off-road sports car” has are an adapted version of the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) system, with specific calibrations for Strada and Sport, and a new Rally mode, dedicated specifically to low-low conditions. adherence.

Also, as is logical, it presents a notable increase in height, 44 mm higher than the Huracán EVO, which translates into a greater travel of the suspensions and a higher ground clearance (16 cm), as well as in the increase in track width. Likewise, the P-TCS (Performance Traction Control System) system has been specifically calibrated with a view to enhancing its off-road characteristics. The priority is driving fun on the ground but guaranteeing speed, grip and safety in control at all times.

Also undergoing an intensive program of testing and development are its Bridgestone Dueler AT002 tires, the first off-road tires with Run-Flat technology for a vehicle of this type and specifically created for the Sterrato. The Italian sports car mounts them in size 235/40 ZR19 on the front axle and 285/40, wider, on the rear.

The tread pattern is designed for high speed performance, but at the same time offers good off-road bite. To achieve this, Bridgestone has used a proprietary blend of polymers that provide optimal grip, as well as a special shoulder (the part that joins the sidewalls and the tread) to offer greater grip in gravel and mud. They can roll punctured at 80 km/h for 80 km.

The iconic rear hood scoop underscores the Sterrato’s sporty, daring and uncomplicated spirit. But the roof scoop, in addition to adding character, is intended to guarantee clean air to the engine, especially on dusty roads. Its presence is not only essential, but also inspires the most adventurous drivers.

Likewise, the protection of the front underbody, the door sills, the roof bars and the wheel arches emphasize the muscular and aggressive appearance of the vehicle. For its part, not all additional components and accessories are approved for use on public roads in all markets. Thus, the additional headlights are offered as an extra for this reason, although it is equipment that almost all users configure as standard.

His self-confidence and his warrior and “thug” presence are evident in every detail. Its dynamic design is a natural evolution of the iconic lines of the Huracán but more focused on adventure and exploration. It presents visual resources and sophisticated stylistic solutions that only Lamborghini’s DNA is capable of engendering, such as its aggressive optional graphics, which are painted and not simple stickers. This model is crying out to be tested and squeezed on different terrains, offering an unmistakable driving experience on each one.

The interior of the Sterrato follows the “feel like a pilot” philosophy adopted from the beginning in all Huracán models. Titanium inserts, four-point seat belts, sports seats with double carbon structure, aluminum floor mats and many other details envelop the driver in a safe way, preparing him for adventure and immersing him in an exclusive and unique environment.

Finally, its famous 5.2-litre V10 engine, with an incomparable sound and a power in this case of 610 CV at 8,000 rpm and 560 Nm of torque, guarantees true supercar performance on surfaces with any type of adhesion and maximum performance on the track or on dirt roads.

It is accompanied by a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an electronically controlled integral transmission with a rear mechanical limited-slip differential. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h. Approves fuel consumption in the combined cycle of 14.9 l/100km (WLTP) with CO? emissions in the combined cycle: 337 g/km.
