The Repsol Guide has already revealed its new suns for 2024 and in this new edition it has been the chef Begoña Rodrigo, at the head of La Salita, the great winner. Her haute cuisine restaurant located in the center of Valencia has been the only one to achieve the guide’s highest distinction this year, the three suns, a recognition that only 43 other establishments enjoy in Spain.
The gala presentation of the new soles, which was held tonight in the Auditorium and Palacio de Congresos El Batel in Cartagena (Murcia) and which had the actress Silvia Abril as host, also brought good news for Catalonia, which now adds a new restaurant with two soles. This is Empòrium, in Castelló d’Empúries (Girona). Led by the twins Màrius and Joan Jordà, who take turns in cyclical fashion in front of the stove and the dining room, they offer authentic Empordà cuisine marked by the sea and the mountains.
The restaurants Agreste, Casa Nova, Jardín del Alma, Olivos Comida y Vinos y Suto, or 1497 (in Vallromanes) have also achieved a new one in Barcelona. In Girona it has been done by Els Pescadors de Llançà (Llançà), Normal (Girona), Saó, by Vicenç Fajardo (La Bisbal d’Empordà), Almadraba (Roses); and in Lleida and Tarragona, respectively, Eth Bistró (Vielha) and Citrus del Tancat (Alcanar). With these additions, Catalonia has a total of 115 restaurants awarded in the new guide: 80 with one, 25 with two soles and 10 with three soles.
During the awards ceremony, which was attended on this occasion by more than 700 people and almost all of the best-known faces on the gastronomic scene, the president of Repsol, Antonio Brufau, highlighted that “national gastronomy is going through an excellent moment.” Hence, in 2024 they have decided to grant 98 a total of 98 new soles. “Gastronomic talent is spread throughout all corners of our country and the Region of Murcia is a clear example,” he added.
In addition to Emporiùm, another 15 restaurants, which the guide has stated stand out for their solid evolution and a marked personality, have achieved their second sun: Almo (Murcia), Ama (Tolosa), Atalaya (Alcossebre), Casa Julián (Tolosa), Hanging Houses (Cuenca), Cobo Evolución (Burgos), Since 1911 (Madrid), El Capricho (Jiménez de Jamuz), Empòrium (Castelló d’Empúries), Etéreo by Pedro Nel (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), La Cúpula (Costa Adeje ), Le Bistroman L´Atelier (Madrid), Nublo (Haro), OSA (Madrid), Tohqa (El Puerto de Santa María) and Ugo Chan (Madrid).
The Sustainable Soles, an award that aims to recognize environmental commitment and innovation in sustainability that was already announced a few days ago, was also awarded during the gala to the restaurants Les Cols (Olot, Girona), A Tafona (Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña), Loreto (Jumilla, Murcia) and La Revelía (Amorebieta, Vizcaya).
