The Artistic Festival of the Old Quarter of Manresa (FABA) will take place from May 7 to 13 in the space of L’Anónima, with the objective of turning it into a creative factory for transformative culture.

Manresa City Council will cede the spaces in the center for the festival, which will have the presence of artists such as Maria Escarmiento, Núria Graham, Dorian Wood, Pol Batlle with Rita Payés or Margarita Quebrada, among others.

The opening day will feature performances by the artist Núria Graham and the Puput group, while during the week various artistic activities will take place in the Anònima garages and exhibitions open to the public will be presented.

The festival is part of the project to turn L’Anònima into a creation factory for transforming culture. A project that in 2023 has been formalized with the announcement of the City Council to give spaces to the proposal to create the FABA. The festival was born in 2017 thanks to the alliances of various agents of the Historic Center, with the aim of revitalizing the old town of Manresa.

The 2023 edition of FABA will premiere on May 7, with two musical proposals. The alternative artist Núria Graham, within the framework of her international tour, will present ‘Cyclamen’ at the FABA, a jazz fable of nature and dreams. And the cult group Puput from Manresa will preview their fourth album, a slow-burn work that will see the light of day in the only performance of the year in the city.

On the same day 7, the FABA public will also be able to witness the start of ‘Punts de repòs transitori’, by La Costumista, an artistic project that aims to be created with the participation of the residents, who will bring a chair and discuss the transience of the object, people and their lives. The result of this reflection will be presented at the Llotja during the central event. To close the opening day, Berta Jàtiva will act as music selector.

During the week, the activity will take place in the garages of the Anonymous, where the already known as FABAr will be installed. Every night there will be an artistic activity and, throughout the afternoon, you can visit part of the exhibitions open to the public.

During the week there will be performances by Eduard Cobo, who will record a piece of poetry live that will be exhibited at the Llotja during the week. La Crica will stage a capsule with the aim of bringing closer and disseminating the art of the circus. Shana will present her artistic project, where she remembers and thanks her origins through music. And the manresanas Alex

In addition, during the week, various guided activities will also be carried out, such as the presentation of the emerging contemporary dance company Lacuna, a prelude to what will be the premiere on the 13th, on the central day. The workshop and debate ‘La Luz de la Anónima’, which will remain on display throughout the week in Les Carboneres, and start of the ‘Buit Infinit’ project, winner among the proposals that emerged last year from the ‘Transformative Creation Laboratory’.

Saturday May 13 will be the final fireworks of the festival, with more than 12 hours of culture, music, gastronomy and art. The FABA will host the musical performances by Maria Escarmiento from Madrid, with her latest album Cosas de Brujas, an experimental production; the Costa Rican artist Dorian Wood, who will allow the public to enjoy a performance charged with criticism and expressiveness; Pol Batlle with Rita Payés, with his latest work, an energetic performance and a journey that is hard to forget; the Valencian trio Margarita Quebrada, with a sound set in chaos, melodrama and nostalgia. You can also enjoy the representation of artists from the local, emerging and km 0 scene, with the premieres of the Manresa hip-hop duo 85 Primera and Aeria, the first proposal that they repeat at FABA after formalizing the project with a label French.

The FABA will also have visual and plastic artists in the Creation Market, such as Alex Arpa, Gal, Julita Rodríguez, La Costumista, and Rovira Casas. Lacuna will present her dance project guided by FABA. And Ràdio Clota will be installed around a table with six microphones to create a constellation of artists, visitors, organizers and everyone who wants to say theirs. Throughout the day, you can also enjoy the music of DJ’s Lupita, Meri, Mister Rombo, Mr. Twee, and Punda Wakers.
