Kylian Mbappe says Real Madrid move ‘a dream come true’
France forward Kylian Mbappe expressed his excitement as his long-awaited move to Real Madrid was officially confirmed on Monday evening. The 25-year-old striker will be transferring to the Bernabeu Stadium on a five-year contract once his current deal with Paris St-Germain expires on 30 June.
Mbappe took to Instagram to share his joy, stating, “Nobody can understand how excited I am right now! A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams.” The talented footballer will be earning a salary of 15m euros (£12.8m) per season, in addition to a 150m euro (£128m) signing-on bonus spread over five years. Moreover, he will retain a percentage of his image rights.
The announcement of Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid has sparked discussions of a potential new Galacticos era at the club, with the prospect of him playing alongside the likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Endrick, and Jude Bellingham. Having agreed to the transfer in February and confirming his departure from PSG in May, Mbappe leaves the French champions as their all-time leading goal scorer with 256 goals since joining from Monaco in 2017.
During the past season, Mbappe netted an impressive 44 goals in 48 matches and has consistently been the top scorer in Ligue 1 for the past six years. His time in France has seen him secure multiple league titles and cup victories, including the Golden Boot at the 2022 World Cup. Despite his success, Mbappe has yet to claim a Champions League title, a feat he will be aiming to achieve with Real Madrid, a club renowned for its success in Europe’s premier club competition.
