King Philip VI will travel to Belgium next week to visit the headquarters of the Atlantic Alliance, the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe (known as SHAPE) has announced. The visit to these facilities, located in the town of Casteau, will take place next Tuesday, February 20. It will be the second time that the Spanish head of state has set foot at the Allied Headquarters, where he was received in 2018.

“The king will meet with the supreme allied commander, SHAPE staff and Spanish employees to discuss different topics and present a prestigious award,” explains the official NATO statement. The arrival of Felipe VI at the Allied Headquarters, where he will be received by an Honor Guard ceremony, is scheduled for around eleven in the morning next Tuesday. At one in the afternoon, the monarch will give a speech at the award ceremony, about which no further details have been revealed at the moment. The visit will culminate with a meeting with members of the Spanish community in the military organization, which Spain joined in 1982, four years before entering the European Economic Community.
