Agents of the National Police have arrested the sports betting forecaster with the most followers in Spain, Juan Gayá, for an alleged crime of money laundering and criminal organization. He is one of the main advisers on sports betting. The arrest took place this Tuesday in the municipality of Santa Eugenia (Mallorca).
Gayá is dedicated to advising on betting and has more than 250,000 followers on its Telegram communication channels and also uses a website where it advises where and how to bet. He is one of the ‘gurus’ on this issue in Spain.
Gayá’s arrest was carried out by agents of the Central Brigade for Economic Crimes of the National Police. It is not an isolated case, but rather an operation coordinated by the National Court that is being carried out simultaneously in various parts of the Peninsula, although the summary secrecy has been decreed and, consequently, to date there are little data.
The famous betting adviser was at his home, in a house located in Santa Eugènia, when the agents of the National Police showed up. Apparently, Gayá has offered resistance and has faced those who tried to stop him. At one point he tried to flee, but was finally intercepted and arrested. Some sources indicate that several agents have received bruises due to the great resistance shown by the detainee.
Gayá has a Telegram channel and a website where she advises on sports betting; he has boasted of significant financial gains in numerous interviews granted to various television programs. Part of his income comes through subscriptions to his channel, in which he advises on sports betting.
The police suspect that there has been money laundering, with income not reported to the Tax Agency, a fraud that has been carried out in collusion with others arrested in other parts of Spain, hence the accusation of criminal organization.
