The Serbian Luka Jovic leaves the discipline of Real Madrid to which he arrived in the summer of 2019 in exchange for some 60 million euros and in which he has spent three seasons in which the striker has only been able to score three goals. Now he is leaving for free towards Fiorentina.

In the operation, the white team saves the footballer’s salary, with a contract until June 30, 2025, and saves a percentage of a future sale during his stay in Italy.

And it is that Jovic has not materialized at any time in Real Madrid. In addition to the fact that he only scored three goals with the white shirt, two of them in his first season, he was not even close to threatening the position of the Frenchman Karim Benzema, who, in addition, this last year had the best campaign of his career and is the top favorite for the Ballon d’Or.

So much so that the Serbian has only played two games in a row as a starter on two occasions. The first, in the 2020 Spanish Super Cup, a title that Real Madrid won. He played 83 minutes in the semi-finals against Valencia (1-3) against whom he recorded an assist, and another 83 minutes against Atlético de Madrid (0-0 and 4-1 on penalties), in the final.

The second time he linked two consecutive games was at the beginning of the following campaign, in LaLiga Santander. 72 minutes against Betis and 58 against Valladolid; his presence had no influence on the score.

In January 2021, Real Madrid decided, at the player’s request, to loan Jovic to Eintracht Frankfurt, the club from which he signed him after standing out at just 21 years old and finishing his last season with 27 goals and seven assists in 48 games.

The objective was to recover the confidence and the level that attracted the attention of the big European clubs. In his debut in the Bundesliga he scored two goals in 27 minutes, but it was a mirage; he only scored two goals in the following four months.

After this transfer he returned to Real Madrid and his presence in the team was residual, even advanced by Mariano Díaz or Isco Alarcón -of false ‘9’- as alternatives to Benzema.

His peak moment in the white team, in terms of individual performance, came on December 4, 2021 when, Benzema injured in the 17th minute, Jovic jumped onto the pitch in San Sebastián to lead his team, with an assist to Vinicius and a goal, in the 0-2 victory against Real Sociedad.

However, Benzema cut back deadlines for his muscular problem and Jovic returned to ostracism. Circumstance that made him request his departure during the winter market, but after a conversation with Carlo Ancelotti he stayed. However, his role in the team did not change and his departure this summer was inevitable.

Now Jovic is heading to Fiorentina with the pressure of making his compatriot Dušan Vlahovi? -now at Juventus- forget and with the aim, as his father recently said, of “seeing who is right and who is wrong”.
