Matsusaka Beef is the most valued meat in Japan, even surpassing the popular Kobe beef. It is a national treasure, and now its export has been authorized for the first time. The Japanese Government has given the green light after the Akaneya Group has become part of the Matsusaka Beef Association.

Thanks to this understanding, the Japanese government has subsequently launched the historic export project that will take this meat to the rest of the world. Around a hundred companies had tried it before in recent years, according to Association sources.

With barely 7,000 head of cattle produced, it is a business sustained by domestic demand that pays very high prices for this magnificent meat known as Matsusaka Beef, originally from the traditionalist prefecture of Mie.

The decline in demand for this exceptional meat due to an aging population and economic problems has led Matsusaka Beef producers to open up internationally and leave behind fears of possible foreign interference and its influence on the prestige of the coveted product.

Another factor that has led producers to open internationally has been the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused an unprecedented drop in sales, leading to the creation in 2020 of the Matsusaka Beef Association Export Committee.

Thanks to the entry of the Akaneya Group into the entity in 2022, the export process has been accelerated and the opening to the whole world so that they can enjoy this exceptional meat from the hand of a Spanish company that has revolutionized the sector.
