Is this the most endearing animal in the forest? This is the question that we can ask ourselves when we see this series of photographs of the deep look that that female roe deer gives the photographer at the moment of capturing these snapshots in Muntanyola (Osona) for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

Deer remind us of images of tenderness since Disney created the character of Bambi in 1942, a shy and insecure newborn fawn who lived with his mother in the forest.

Little by little he will make new friends like Tambor the rabbit, Flor the skunk and Faline the fawn, while he will learn great lessons from his mother, until he loses her because of the hunters.

In this case, the cabirol or roe deer is a species of the Cervidae family, the smallest in Eurasia, and its area of distribution extends from western Europe to northern China.

With a maximum height of about 75 centimeters and a weight of between twenty and thirty kilograms, its diet consists of the consumption of leaves from shrubs and low trees, as well as berries and young shoots.

In the area of Muntanyola there are several mountains and sierras, such as the Puig de la Caseta, Puigcimós, Puig Espeltós or the Serrat de les Comunes, dels Dacs or de la Solana del Castell.

Unlike most cervids, the cabirol is a solitary species. It is an animal with a very high capacity for adaptation, which is why it can live both in closed forests and in wide meadows.
