The Department of the Interior of the Generalitat argues that the City of Sant Adrià de Besòs may authorize the celebration of the Barcelona Beach Festival if the event meets the requirements of 2021.
The Barcelona City Council rejected the activity license for the festival organized by Live Nation Spain just 24 hours before its celebration, since it lacks the report of the general directorate of Prevention, Fire Extinction and Rescue.
Interior, on the other hand, ensures in a note that if the “technical conditions provided for in the current edition are the same as those considered and implemented in previous editions” it can be “assumed that safety conditions are guaranteed in case of fire, given that for the last editions these conditions were already reported favorably”.
The Generalitat explains that the Directorate General for Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue has not issued any fire prevention report because the promoter of the Barcelona Beach Festival “has made the request outside the parameters indicated” in the law.
As indicated by the Sant Adrià city council, Live Nation presented the necessary documentation to request the perceptive and binding report on June 22, when it was already out of time because it should have been requested no later than June 10, 15 business days before start of activity. The one who processes the request to the Department of the Interior is the Sant Adrià Town Council itself.
Even so, the Ministry of the Interior admits that the municipal technical services can carry out “the documentary verification of the coincidence of all the security measures provided for in the current edition with respect to those implemented in previous editions”.
The Consistory, for its part, assured that it was willing that the seventh edition of the BBF could be held, so it made the request for the report to the general management, which has finally ended up being denied.
The start of the Barcelona Beach Festival, one of the most recognized electronic music festivals, was scheduled for this Saturday, July 2, and was going to welcome thousands of people.
