Illa advocates for Sánchez's continuity: “The path that must be followed is that of resistance”

The candidate and leader of the PSC, Salvador Illa, is a very close person, politically and personally, to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, but he assures that in the last few hours he has not spoken with him and that only a message has been exchanged. text in which his total support is shown in the difficult times that the head of the central Executive is going through. Illa assures that he has not let Sánchez know what he thinks regarding his decision to leave his continuity in office up in the air, but the Catalan leader made it clear this Thursday that he advocates “resisting.” the attacks.

In his participation in the New Economy Forum, Illa has regretted the situation that has led the President of the Government to suspend his public agenda and open a period of reflection before deciding whether to resign, but he has made it clear that “the path that must be followed It is that of resistance, collective, of all of us who think of politics as a public service.”

In the same way that in the Government and in the PSOE there is a conspiracy for Sánchez to continue in office, Illa has come to join the demand although he wanted to show respect for the president’s reflection. “I have my opinion and it is not difficult for you to deduce what I think,” said the PSC candidate, who then advocated “deploying collective resistance to this way of doing politics that destroys the adversary, the people, to the institutions, and say yes to another way of doing politics.”

Although Sánchez’s decision is a disruption to the PSC’s campaign plans, Illa has assured that his party’s electoral campaign will continue as planned, although without the presence of the President of the Government at the events that were planned, at least short term, this Thursday in Sabadell and Sunday in Santa Coloma de Gramenet.

In Sabadell, the PSC maintains the planned rally with the presence of Illa and the mayor of the city, Marta Farrés. Before, the party will hold an extraordinary meeting of the executive commission in the city, which will be open to the secretaries of the federations, in which the party leader will propose to “initiate a collective commitment to raise a defense of this way of doing politics and a resistance.”

Illa has appealed for respect and recognition of the adversary, which he has identified with “that call congratulating whoever won the elections on election night, which is the recognition of the adversary,” he summarized. This gesture implicitly recognizes plurality, legitimacy and acceptance of the submission of the majority, according to Illa. It is, in short, “a call that unites society”, which “recognizes plurality and a common ground, some rules; It is a call for unity.”

However, for “some years”, in Spain “this is at risk”, they are “jumping limits that were not jumped before”, to the point that “we are facing the systematic destruction of the adversary and the institutions”, he has alerted Illa.

The PSC candidate has questioned “what country we are becoming if we do not unite in the face of the pandemic, if we do not recognize work well done in one of the worst moments and if we have this climate of unbearable tension” For Illa there is no reason to weight that justifies it. And given the recognition by Manos Limpes that the complaint against the president’s wife is based on false information, Illa has lamented that “all this is nonsense” and, above and beyond the role of the pseudo-union, she has recriminated “the credit and use that some make” of this issue, in clear reference to the right and the extreme right. “This will end soon if whoever has to do it sets a limit and says: I don’t play with this,” the PSC leader has taught.
