Halle Berry and Olivier Martínez can now put an end to their relationship. After eight years of fighting in court, what was once the most controversial couple in Hollywood has finally finalized their divorce. A process that has lasted forever due to the continuous disagreements between the couple of actors, especially at the economic level and regarding the custody of their only child in common, Maceo, who is now nine years old.

Finally, the agreement ends up being favorable for the French actor, who will receive financial compensation from the protagonist of Monster’s Ball, with whom he married in 2015 and from whom he divorced just two years later, after becoming parents of the little one.

As reported by the TMZ portal, the actors did not agree on details about the custody of their son, nor who should pay whom compensation when the child was with the other. Finally, they seem to have agreed: the two agree to joint custody -the actress will take care of the child from Monday to Wednesday and his father from Wednesday to Friday, with the two alternating on weekends-, and for the child to come specialists to help you manage possible family problems arising from this situation.

The little boy does not know his parents in any other way than by facing each other in court, since his divorce began when he was only one year old. In these sessions with a psychologist, they also seek to cement relationships with his family, but only with her sister (Nahla, 15, the result of the actress’s relationship with the model Gabriel Aubrey). Halle Berry’s current partner, Van Hunt, cannot participate.

In addition to the custody agreement, the actress must pay Martinez $8,000 a month in alimony for her son, an amount that must increase if she earns more than two million dollars for any of her projects. Berry will also be responsible for paying school expenses, health and anything that may arise from the child.

Halle Berry will be responsible for paying the child’s expenses, but Olivier Martinez isn’t exactly short of funds. According to the Net Worth Post, the French actor has a fortune valued at 20 million dollars (compared to more than 90 million for his ex-wife). In addition to acting, Martinez is a businessman-he has a successful restaurant in Miami-and dedicates part of his time to charitable causes.

The divorce could have gone on much longer, but they had a signed prenup that has saved them from spending any more time in court.

The actors met in 2010 while shooting the movie Deadly Tide in South Africa. An intense and passionate romance that made them the favorites of the gossip press, and that led to their engagement in 2012. Berry, who was 46 years old at the time, considered the actor the man of his life, and was glad that finally things went well after a series of romances each more controversial.

Their wedding came in 2015, but problems soon began. The actor’s failure to adjust to life in Hollywood, problems with Gabriel Aubry (whom he gave a beating that was caught by the paparazzi) and constant arguments led to the break, which finally came in 2016.
