The American actress Susan Buckner, known for having played Patty Simcox in the popular musical film Grease, died on May 2 at the age of 72, as confirmed by her publicist to national media on Tuesday.
So far, the causes of the death of the Miami-born performer, who also worked as a professional dancer, have not been revealed.
Before beginning her acting career, Buckner was crowned Miss Washington in 1971 and in September of that year she became a Miss America finalist.
In 1977, Buckner played Hollywood bad girl Jean Harlow in the biographical series The Incredible Howard Hughes and was also one of the dancers and synchronized swimmers dubbed ‘The Kroffettes’ on the variety show The Brady Bunch Hour.
When Buckner was 25 years old, she was chosen for the role of cheerleader at Rydell High School, the school where the love story between Sandy, played by Olivia Newton-John, and Danny Zuko, played by John Travolta, took place.
In 1981, the actress participated in Deadly Blessing, alongside Sharon Stone and Maren Jensen, by Wes Craven, and the rest of her career was based on acting projects with credits as a special guest.
Buckner also had appearances in series such as Vacation at Sea, B.J and the Bear and The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries.
Her last acting project was in 1989 in the film Police Academy 6: City under siege, where she played a journalist.
