Freixenet has boosted its business remarkably, signing the second best result in its history with its most relevant wineries in Spain. The profit of the company Freixenet S.A., the parent company of the Freixenet Group, which integrates various companies with common management and shareholders, stood at 28.7 million euros in 2022, 98% more than in the previous year, as and as stated in the accounts deposited in the Mercantile Registry.
The growth occurs after the merger by absorption of the Castellblanch company, as explained by the company itself in its memorandum. “At the income statement level, despite the situation and not being comparable with the previous year, as a result of the aforementioned merger, the company has obtained a notable improvement in both operating results and net profit, being the second best result of history”, he affirms.
In total, the company had a turnover of 297 million euros last year, compared to 254 million the previous year. Freixenet has been part of the German multinational Henkell for five years and has consolidated its accounts with the parent company. The group billed 1,181 million euros in 2022, 8.5% more. Freixenet is by far the group’s most relevant brand, leading the cava market in more than 100 countries. In 2022 they sold more than 107 million bottles (including cava, wine, prosecco and other sparkling wines), equaling the historical record of 2021.
With a view to 2023, the forecasts of Freixenet S.A. They are positive, although extreme precautions due to the global situation. “The scenario for the 2023 financial year, as in 2022, will be influenced by the armed conflict [in reference to the war in Ukraine], in terms of the increase in the cost of raw materials and energy,” he considers in his accounts. For this reason, he explains that the group has decided to “extreme the spending reduction policy” until seeing how sales and macroeconomic variables evolve.
