We want to share the pain for the loss of Josep Piqué, who has been an extraordinarily close and relevant person in our Organization since the mid-80s.

Then, along with another young academic, Antón Costas, he came into contact with the Cercle through Professor Fabián Estapé. From the very beginning, the Board of Directors, chaired by Juan Antonio Delgado, saw a person who understood and identified with the most typical meaning of the Cercle. That intuition turned out to be entirely correct, soon joining several boards of directors, until he was elected president.

The most relevant of these four decades has been his constant commitment to the Entity, an availability and an institutional sense that we have been able to enjoy at all times. His contribution, often completely discreet, has a lot to do with the recognition of what the Cercle enjoys today. At the same time, we have been able to experience up close his outstanding and unique career in the academic, business and political world.

We will remember all this in an act that we will celebrate in the coming months, and that from now on we begin to design. Today what we all want is to accompany his family and closest friends to show them our esteem for a person so charged with humanity.
