In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can contemplate the spectacle of fog at dawn in Les Agudes, seen from Sant Marçal del Montseny.

Les Agudes is a 1,706-meter-high mountain, which is accessed from the south, along the forest track that goes up to Turó de l’Home, crossing the Coll Sesbasses mountain pass and following the path that leads directly to the top. .

The old monastery of Sant Marçal is located at the top of a small valley, at an altitude of about 1045 meters, between the two large massifs that make up Montseny: the Matagalls and Les Agudes-Turó de l’Home.

This valley is home to the headwaters of the Tordera river that rises in the well-known Font Bona, a few meters from the monastery. The primitive church of Sant Marçal del Montseny, documented in 1053, was converted into a Benedictine monastery in 1066.

The architectural complex is made up of the small Romanesque church with an elongated nave, a circular apse, a semicircular vault and a wide bell tower with a belfry. Next to the church is the large manor house, which was inhabited by Benedictine monks.

After centuries of monastic activity, at the beginning of the 20th century the complex was converted into a Sant Marçal hostelry. It is a traditional place for excursions in Montseny.
