The Generalitat Fire Brigade declared the fire that has affected the towns of Portbou and Colera since Friday under control this Monday morning, and which has burned 573 hectares. Some thirty crews have worked last night inside the perimeter with the aim of cooling all the hot spots and being able to consider it controlled.

Among the thirty fire departments of the Catalan Generalitat that have worked throughout the night are water trucks, troops from the GRAF -Forest Action Group-, from the EPAF -Forest Active Prevention Teams- and light coordination vehicles and command.

The members of the Fire Department have continued soaking the ground and have extinguished some logs that were still smoking, tasks that they will continue to carry out today with the aim of entering the control phase.

The weather forecasts point to a lower intensity of the wind than last weekend, with a sustained tramuntana during the day of around 30 km/h, although with gusts that could reach 60 km/h.

The fire was stabilized last Saturday night and since then the perimeter of the affected area, of some 573 hectares in the Portbou and Colera districts, has been contained. Most of the affected forest land is scrub and wooded and, to a lesser extent, also crops and pastures.
