This morning on the beach of Gavà, in the Baix Llobregat, you could see spectacular curtains of rain in the Mediterranean Sea, as can be seen in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The rain, unfortunately, has fallen in the sea and not on the mainland. It is that capricious and has avoided falling where we need it most and not in the sea. The weather is like that.

Warm seas are areas prone to release and generate large amounts of moisture, cloudiness, and convective and intense rains.

Warm waters are potentially more likely to release large amounts of heat and moisture that they have stored from solar heating than cooler waters at higher latitudes. And this winter has been hot in the Mediterranean.

It is not strange that we find cold drops in the Mediterranean area. There are factors that influence or can lead to rain, such as the instability or buoyancy of the air mass, high humidity at medium-low levels and convection at a local scale.
