There are trains that pass only once in a lifetime and others that you would never want to get on. This is how one could summarize the surreal situation that occurred this Wednesday night on a train at the Rodalies station in Tortosa.
The train that left Tortosa with its final destination at the França station in Barcelona had a delay of half an hour —its departure was scheduled for 8:55 p.m.— for an unexpected reason. The engineer in charge of driving that train went to the control cabin to start the journey, but when he opened the compartment he found a scene worthy of a movie.
A Renfe controller and a woman were having sexual relations inside the cabin, according to the Diari de Tarragona. The limited space of the locomotive added to the position of the protagonists involved caused them to touch certain parts of the controls with their bodies.
Immediately, the train engineer informed his superiors of what had just occurred and, according to the local newspaper, he refused to use the machinery in the cabin if it did not receive a “thorough cleaning”.
The workers decided to unhook one of the wagons and another machine was chosen to travel the R16 line. Meanwhile, the cabin that witnessed the moment of passion for the controller and the woman remained in Tortosa for that cleaning.
On the other hand, Renfe has opened an informative file to the controller, which can become a sanction.
