Fernando Tejero, after Cayetana's confession: "I suffered that too, I know how hard it is"

Cayetana Guillén Cuervo surprised the world of the arts by confessing for the first time the traumatic experience she lived as a child: when she was only six years old, she was the victim of a brutal sexual assault. A horrible incident that she kept a secret until that moment, but that she decided to confess so that other women in the same situation would arm themselves with courage to free themselves from her pain.

Her colleague and friend Fernando Tejero responded to her words, who sadly knows perfectly well what the president of the Academy of Performing Arts is referring to. As the Córdoba actor confessed a few months ago during an interview, he was also a victim of sexual abuse when he was just a teenager.

Fernando Tejero went to the radio program La Ventana, with Carles Francino, where he revealed that he had been the victim of a sexual assault. “It wasn’t me until I arrived in Madrid because I was homosexual, as a child I had a lot of pen, and they already insulted me. And I also suffered sexual abuse,” he confessed.

“They sexually abused me, a boy older than me,” he admitted, confessing that it was the first time he had told it. “I took away my pen, I didn’t accept myself. Today my voice is hoarse and I stutter because I didn’t want to express myself as I was.”

That is why the man from Córdoba wanted to send encouragement to his partner and friend after making his confession, because he knows well about the dramatic moment he is going through; even more so when she herself has revealed that the event continues to be a trauma for her.

“It’s very hard. You have to be brave,” the actor assured the Europa Press cameras and reporters. “I suffered that too, I know how hard it is and I understand that she wanted to forget about it so it wouldn’t affect her.”

He himself recognizes that he has learned to live with it and overcome it in a certain way. Of course, with the help of “a lot of therapy” and “a lot of psychologist.” The actor took the opportunity to send a message to the government regarding the issue of mental health, asking for more investment and work to solve it. “There are many people with many mental problems and do not have the money to go to a psychologist.”

The actor insists that prioritizing mental health is necessary, and that there are so many well-known faces who are giving their version, it is very necessary. In his case, therapy has only done him good, as he has been able to move on, so he can only encourage others to do the same and follow his example.
