In Madrid, discreetly, and without photos. The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the president of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, met this afternoon in a very discreet meeting, as happened with the conversations that the popular leader had with the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal and the leader of United We Can, Yolanda Diaz.

PP sources gave an account of the meeting after its celebration, and recall that the meeting arose as a result of an informal conversation that both had in July in Ermua, where they coincided during the events on the anniversary of the assassination of the PP councilor Miguel Ángel Blanco, at the hands of ETA. So they agreed to meet to exchange opinions, after the arrival of Feijóo to the presidency of the PP.

In the meeting, according to the same sources, “the notable ideological and programmatic differences” have been confirmed, but also, they underline, “the institutional respect between two parties accustomed to having government responsibilities.” At the meeting, the two political leaders shared reflections on the current political context, the economic situation “and the uncertainties arising from the national and international context”.

Feijóo maintains very good relations with the Lehendakari, Íñigo Urkullu, since they have coincided on many occasions, being one president of Galicia and the other president of the Basque Country, and they have maintained coincident positions as regional presidents, but the popular leader did not know the president of the GNP.

The meeting, PP sources underline, is part of the round of contacts that Núñez Feijóo has been holding with leaders of other political formations since he was elected president of the PP.
