The Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) group in the Barcelona City Council has accused the two parties that make up the municipal government (Barcelona en Comú and PSC) of using recent municipal acts to “campaign” electorally for the municipal elections of 28 of May. The Republican formation reproaches both formations for using these events to make “propaganda with public money for their issues and their priorities, obeying solely party interests”, as indicated by their spokesman in the consistory Jordi Coronas.

ERC has given several examples of different situations that occurred this same month of March to build its accusation. These include international conferences on the superblock, which featured several international speakers and two street parties, or the recent publication of several books on government action in the city between 2015 and 2023, as well as the Survey Barcelona photographic project. or several inaugurations.

Based on this, the municipal group of Republicans will present a two-point proposal that will be put to a vote in plenary this Friday. On the one hand, the first point wants to verify precisely that many of the municipal acts carried out this quarter and paid for with public money obey more a logic of the party than of the city.

On the other hand, the second point of this motion will ask the municipal government to present a detailed report on the institutional campaigns, their cost and public service objectives carried out during the same period of 2023 within a period of 15 days.
