Employment holds in Catalonia despite adding 1,000 unemployed in November

Job creation slowed in Catalonia in November, with a negligible rise in enrollment and more unemployment, according to data published this Friday by the Ministries of Social Security and Labor. The trend is better in Barcelona than in the rest of the provinces, since it is where more jobs are created.

On the unemployment side, 986 more unemployed were registered (0.28% year-on-year), the third autonomous region where it grew the most, bringing the system total to 348,982 unemployed. The latter is in any case the lowest figure since 2007 for this month. The affiliation grows on its part in 519 workers (0.01%), with 3.6 million average contributors, which remain in records. In Spain as a whole, affiliation has fallen.

Of the last five months, unemployment has grown in four. October had been positive, with more employment and less unemployment, but the trend was corrected again in November. The one that has just closed is traditionally a month for employment, since it is in the middle of two seasons: the summer season is definitely behind with the drop in the arrival of tourists and the pull of Christmas is not yet reflected in the data .

By areas, the unemployed fell slightly in Barcelona, ??with 303 less, and Lleida (145), while they increased in Girona, with 641 more, and Tarragona, with 793 new unemployed.

In the case of affiliation, the trend is similar, with higher figures, however. In Barcelona, ??13,247 jobs are generated, compared to 342 in Lleida. In the other provinces there is a correction, with Girona losing 7,506 jobs and Tarragona another 5,564.
