SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Travers Stakes, the most anticipated day of the racing season at Saratoga, is just around the corner. This year marks the 155th running of the prestigious race, with a total prize of $1.25 million up for grabs for the top 3-year-olds in the sport. The post positions were drawn on Sunday, setting the stage for an exciting race day.

The lineup for this year’s Travers Stakes is filled with talented contenders vying for the coveted title. Leading the pack is 3-year-old filly Thorpedo Anna, starting from post 1 with odds of 3-1. Thorpedo Anna aims to make history by becoming the first filly to win the Travers since 1915, adding an extra layer of excitement to the race.

Local trainer Chad Brown, a Mechanicville-native, is looking to secure his first Travers win with two strong contenders in the race. Jim Dandy Stakes runner-up Sierra Leone will be starting from post 2 with odds of 7-2, while Unmatched Wisdom, a first-time graded stakes race participant, will be starting from post 3 at 8-1 odds. Brown is hoping that one of his horses will cross the finish line first and bring home the victory.

Corporate Power, starting from post 4, will be making his graded stakes debut in the Travers Stakes, with odds set at 15-1. Trainer Bill Mott’s Batten Down, who finished third in the Dandy, will be starting from post 5, followed by Honor Marie, a longshot coming off a fourth-place finish in the Belmont, both at odds of 20-1.

The race favorite, Dornoch, winner of the Belmont, will be starting from post 7 with the best odds of 5-2. Trained by Danny Gargan, Dornoch is expected to put on a strong performance and is a top contender for the win. Todd Pletcher’s Fierceness, the winner of the Dandy just three weeks ago, will be starting from post 8 with odds of 3-1, tied with Thorpedo Anna for the second-best odds in the race.
