It has dawned with low clouds and with the dolphins, which have been seen under the first sun this Monday off the coast of Fuengirola, as can be seen in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.
On the Costa del Sol, it is customary to organize boat trips to watch dolphins. To have a better chance of seeing them, you have to navigate between 3 and 5 nautical miles.
But, as can be seen in the images, cetaceans can also make a surprise visit very close to the coast.
Dolphins prefer deeper waters, since they have more options to feed, but this does not prevent them from approaching the beaches.
They also approach boats that anchor or fish near the coast, as we can see in one of the photographs taken from Fuengirola.
In the Mediterranean you can see several types of cetaceans, such as the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), the fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus), the black pilot whale (Globicephala melas), the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) or Cuvier’s calf (Ziphius cavirostris ).
