Deportivo announced this Wednesday the dismissal of the coach, Rubén de la Barrera, and the resignation of the club’s president, Antonio Couceiro, and the Board of Directors.
Three days after their elimination in the first round of the playoff for promotion to the Second Division, the club announced those drastic decisions.
If on Monday the end of the stage of Carlos Rosende and Juan Giménez, responsible for the technical secretariat, was transferred, this Wednesday Deportivo reported that the president and all members of the Board of Directors of RC Deportivo have decided to resign.
“The decision was made to favor the restructuring process of the club for the new season,” said Deportivo.
In its last meeting, the Board has chosen to call a Shareholders’ Meeting for July 17, in which a new management team will be appointed.
As representative of the club, the general director and also a counselor, David Villasuso, will be in charge of Deportivo.
The restructuring will include the sports area and the current coach, Rubén de la Barrera, who had played four games and had another year on his contract with release clauses, will not lead Deportivo next season.
RC Deportivo denied that it is going to incorporate any of the names that have appeared repeatedly in the media as candidates to lead the sports area, mainly Domingo Catoira and Fernando Soriano, and specified that “the final decision will be made in the coming days.” .
Deportivo thanked “both the Council and the coach Rubén de la Barrera for their dedication to the club.”
