The Curbside Brush Pickup Schedule for November 4-15 has been announced by University Place Refuse and Recycling. Each household is allowed to put out one pile of brush, which should not exceed 6 feet in width, length, and height.
The Oversized Brush Pickup is open to all residential customers, even those who do not have yard waste service. The pickup day for your area will coincide with your regular curbside recycling or yard waste pickup day. This event will only last for one day in each neighborhood and is specifically for larger brush and limbs that do not fit in a standard yard waste cart. Limbs will be removed using machinery or a pitchfork, and customers may need to sweep small items themselves.
Accepted items for the Oversized Brush Pickup include branches, brush, and limbs that are no longer than 6 feet and no thicker than 4 inches in diameter. These items should be stacked loosely for pickup, without the use of cans, bags, or bundles. Items that are not accepted include thorny vegetation like blackberry and holly, stumps, limbs larger than 6 feet or thicker than 4 inches, and small loose items such as grass, leaves, weeds, bark, and pine/fir needles. No noxious weeds like scotchbroom or English ivy are allowed.
If you have yard waste service, it is recommended to fill up your cart before placing brush in a pile. The oversized brush should be placed in a loose pile at the curb or within five feet of the drivable part of the road for pickup. Make sure the pile does not obstruct the street or access to mailboxes and fire hydrants.
