The last five presidents of Barça, Joan Laporta, Josep Maria Bartomeu, Sandro Rosell, Enric Reyna and Joan Gaspart, had dinner this Tuesday night to unify positions and convey an image of unity, as confirmed by the Barcelona club through a statement. The meeting takes place after the proposal made in this regard last Saturday by former president Gaspart at the club’s delegates’ assembly. A call to close ranks that gave continuity to a will also expressed in recent times by former presidents Rosell and Bartomeu. The dinner lasted two and a half hours and took place on the first floor of the Majestic hotel in Barcelona.

It should be remembered that in the framework of the investigation of the Negreira case, Barcelona’s payment to the former number 2 of the referees, Judge Aguirre has Rosell, Bartomeu and Laporta charged, the latter after the magistrate decided last week.

It was then that Bartomeu issued a message in which he asked for a common defense posture. Previously, Rosell also requested a meeting with Laporta and Bartomeu to bury past quarrels. It was after former commissioner Villarejo had stated that people close to Laporta had transferred compromising information about Rosell.

“The presidents dined in a relaxed meeting that had the objective of consolidating and reaffirming the unified position of Barcelona fans in the face of the attacks that shake the life of the club and that have increased recently,” the statement said.

The Negreira case is not cited at any time but it is understood. According to Barça, the summit was aimed at “seeking the cohesion of Barcelona fans.” In this sense, it is ensured that positions were agreed upon to defend the interests of Barça, “in matters related to the attacks that Barcelona has suffered incessantly throughout its history and especially at present.”

“I called them and they wanted to attend. They love Barça. That there has been jealousy for what we are, have been and will be, is the price to pay for being the best club in the world,” Gaspart explained in ‘Jijantes’. “The expression that no illegality has been committed was repeated last night many times. Barça has not committed any illegality, we can rest assured.”
