You know that feeling when you’ve eaten so much rich and indulgent food that you feel like you might burst. You reach for your favorite stomach-settler, but instead, Mike Bancroft pours you a shot of Amaro da Verde. This new spirit is a collaboration between Co-op Sauce and 18th Street Distillery, released under their Fractional Spirits label. It’s a herbal maceration of green rhubarb, blood orange, lemon verbena, mint, and angelica root. Bancroft suggests drinking it straight and cold to fully enjoy the flavors.
Bancroft and his partner Ann Kostroski are taking over the next Monday Night Foodball event at Frank and Mary’s Tavern to showcase their menu designed to complement Amaro da Verde. They will be serving dishes like Beefy Cheezy, VLT for vegans, and a steak tartare riff on Wisconsin wildcat. The menu also includes a carrot top and radish kimchi, griddled apple custard cake with vanilla ice cream, and more to test the digestive capabilities of the green spirit.
The event will take place on September 23 at 2905 N. Elston in Avondale. In addition to this event, there is a new autumn Foodball schedule to look forward to. This collaboration between Co-op Sauce and 18th Street Distillery is a unique opportunity to experience the flavors of Amaro da Verde and enjoy a delicious menu crafted to complement the spirit. If you’re a food enthusiast looking to explore new tastes and enjoy a fun culinary experience, this event is not to be missed. So mark your calendars and get ready to indulge in some mouth-watering dishes and refreshing spirits.
