The Cosentino group from Almería, manufacturer of silestone, will build its first plant in the United States for 270 million dollars (about 250 million euros) to serve its main international market, where it already generates 59% of its income.

The factory will be installed in Jacksonville, Florida, and will allow the group to expand its production capacity, which up to now has been carried out in Almería and in a processing center in Brazil.

For the moment, it has reached an agreement with the local authorities to buy the land, with the intention that the works can begin at the beginning of 2025 and that production begins at the end of 2028.

Cosentino has managed to become a leader in American kitchens thanks to its presence in distribution chains such as Home Depot, Lowe’s or Costco, among others. Despite not having a factory in the country, Cosentino has deployed 60 of its own infrastructures there, broken down into 45 warehouses, 10 showrooms and 5 distribution hubs.

The company has more than 1,400 employees in North America and is headquartered in the Coral Gables corporate offices in Miami. Its distribution network allows it to reach Alaska or Hawaii.

The group, which at the beginning of the year explored its possible going public, is executing a strategic plan until 2025 with an investment of 400 million, which includes the improvement of its facilities in Almería. Also at the beginning of the year, the group’s president, Francisco Fernández Cosentino, accepted the payment of 1.1 million euros to five workers affected by silicosis.
