This Sunday of Corpus Christi it has been possible to see the floral carpets in Girona at the foot of the Cathedral and Sant Feliu, as we see in The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia. Later the procession will arrive with the blessing.

The Corpus Christi festival has been one of the most important in Europe for eight centuries. It was instituted by the Church around 1246.

This party moves every year since it is always celebrated 60 days after Easter Sunday. The Corpus festivities are celebrated for four days, from Thursday to Corpus Sunday, which in 2023 falls on June 11.

Corpus Christi marks the high point of spring and for this reason it also shows an explosion of flowers: carpets and bowers fill the streets and squares for the processions, as in this case in Girona.

The tradition of Corpus Christi carpets is deeply rooted in the towns and cities of Catalonia, where residents work side by side to make this day look like never before.
