In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we show the original columbarium in the Matadepera cemetery, in the Vallès Occidental, with the image of the mountain of Sant Llorenç del Munt and you can choose the piece you like if it is not occupied to put the urn.

The columbarium is the structure with small interior niches intended to house the funerary urns that contain the ashes of the cremated deceased.

Its name comes from the family tombs of the Romans. The word columbarium properly means “dovecote” and, precisely, this term comes from its similarity with dovecotes.

Many modern crematoriums often have an attached columbarium. In ancient Rome, they often included lavish ornamentation.

In this case, it has been decided to set the columbarium with the nearby Sant Llorenç del Munt massif, whose main peaks are Montcau and La Mola, where the monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt is located, at an altitude of 1,104 metres.
