A classic of Barcelona’s municipal politics returns. This time it has been the municipal group of Citizens, beheaded these days with the announcement of the resignation of its president, Luz Guilarte, who has asked the Barcelona City Council to give up a sports pavilion in the city to be able to follow the matches of the national team Spanish in the World Cup in Qatar.

Citizens will take this petition to the municipal plenary session this Friday. The objective of the proposal, according to its promoters, is that “Barcelona fans can follow the matches of the National Team in a closed space to avoid inclement weather and low temperatures that are expected in the city during the World Cup.”

The Citizens petition is not the first to be registered at this same address. An identical one was presented last March by the Valents group, which suggested that the Palau Sant Jordi be fitted out to be able to watch the Spanish matches in the Qatar World Cup, also arguing that the dates of the competition (November 20 to December 18 December) advise taking this type of event to a covered area.
