The Castelldefels City Council has decided to suspend, for a maximum period of one year, the processing of licenses for restaurant and leisure activities in the center of the town of Baix Llobregat, the Consistory reported this Monday in a statement.
“The objective of this suspension of licenses is to be able to balance the existing services in the different neighborhoods of the city,” said the mayor of Castelldefels, Manu Reyes. “We want to bring order and ensure that citizens in some areas do not suffer from a lack of some commercial uses or services if there is an excess of supply in other commercial categories,” he added.
The suspension of licenses for one year affects several businesses such as bars, restaurants, cafes, bread ovens with tasting, nightclubs or dance halls, among others. New ones cannot be created and the measure also affects procedures that are pending resolution.
According to the City Council, the measure has been carried out “with the consensus” of the Castelldefels Hospitality Guild. “The sector is asking for regulation and for there to be control that guarantees quality hospitality, good service and ensures good coexistence with citizens,” said the president of the union, Manuel Ángel Ortíz. The decision has been made in a local government meeting.
