Carmen Sevilla died on June 27 at the age of 92. The death of the artist left the world of the arts speechless, which dedicated tributes to her figure from all sectors of society. A very beloved woman, she had to abandon her career in 2009 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, a disease that deteriorated her health until her death.

Since her illness was confirmed, the artist remained in the most absolute anonymity, with only her son, Augusto Algueró, and few other people, knowing what became of the artist. On her death, she was parted from her in “the strictest privacy” at the wish of her only son. A decision not without controversy, as much as the fact that the artist’s ashes still remain in the Pozuelo Municipal Mortuary, 105 days after her.

According to ABC, Carmen Sevilla was cremated in the Pozuelo de Alarcón funeral home, and her ashes remain in said funeral home, currently managed by Funespaña. The aforementioned newspaper tried to contact Augusto Algueró, who declined to make any type of comment on the matter.

However, the funeral home does confirm that the artist’s ashes are still there, and that they can be collected at any time by her son, or anyone who carries a copy of Algueró’s ID. It is usual for relatives to collect the ashes of the deceased in the hours following the cremation, but this has not been the case in Algueró.

Even so, the artist’s son has approximately one year to remove his mother’s ashes. If he does not come, he will be contacted to ask if he prefers that they be scattered in a space provided in the crematorium itself.

The artist was always very loved by her audience and colleagues, who regretted Algueró’s decision to fire her without all of them. However, they decided to respect her decision as the actress’s only child.

Even so, they did not understand why the artist’s only son decided not to attend the ceremony organized to say goodbye to him in Madrid. That ceremony, organized by Rappel – who decided to impose himself on the will of the family although in the end he had the approval of Augusto Algueró – and celebrated by Father Ángel, was attended by family and friends, who filled the church of San Antón with emotions and love demonstrations.
